Cutler Loves Us Too

Not to be outdone by his brother’s valentine’s letter to us, Cutler put together this valentine that was hanging on the class display at school. Complete with a drawing of the four of us.

Losing My Mind

There is pretty much nothing exciting to write about and so I was looking through old videos and photos that I hadn’t shared when I ran across our skiing videos of the boys.  I thought that I had shared them while we were in Winter Park last March, but when I searched through the site I couldn’t find them.  So, here are a few videos of the boys and their progression throughout the three days that we skied.

The first half of this video is from during his first lesson on the first day.  The second half is from after his lesson when I took him up on the bunny hill that I stuck to the majority of that day.  He had pretty much mastered going straight downhill.

This next video is from the third day after just a day and a half of lessons.  That day Melanie and I took him up a couple of lifts.  He eventually skied down a blue with Melanie while I took a nice and relaxing trip down a green.  Was pretty amazed at how quickly and easily he picked it up.  Thinking the skating knowledge definitely helps.

Here is Cutler’s first day of lessons showing he can also go straight downhill.

Here is Cutler getting one on one lessons during his second day as all of the other kids his age lost interest and headed inside for cocoa and movies.

And finally, here is Cutler on the third and final day where I was continuing my easier slopes and was fortunate enough to run across Cutler taking a run down the hill with his instructor and fellow student.  The improvement is amazing after only three days.

Watching all of these over again has now made me want to get to the slopes again.  Definitely one of my favorite vacations taken to date.

This One Is For USA

After the devastating loss that Canada handed the ladies and the men over the past two days in the Olympics, Mason took it upon himself to exact revenge by shutting down the shot of a Dallas Star from Canada.  U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

That is Shawn Horcoff, his son is a teammate of Mason’s, who was nice enough to work with the boys tonight.  Mason was on the moon for stopping a few of his softer shots.  We won’t mention the lasers he threw in occasionally.  🙂

Throwing It Back Thursday

I really don’t have anything for today, so I am relying on it being TBT and thinking to how much Cutler talked nonsense to me today while I was trying to work and he was ditching school with a “sore” throat, that he later admitted was not real just so he could have a day off from school, made me think of this video from July 2010 of him talking crazily on his changing table.  I hope it brings at least half the smile that it brought to my heart.

Top Golf Night

With the weather getting into the 70’s and a very rare free evening, it was a perfect night to head to Top Golf to start working out our kinks in our golf swings while enjoying some good grub.  Unfortunately, what was meant to be a family outing turned into a guys night out due to Melanie coming down with Mason’s strep throat.  It was very nice of Mason to share, but hoping Melanie doesn’t pass it along to Cutler or myself.

Reason For Concern?

Last week Mason and Cutler were talking about jail and Mason threw out that he wouldn’t go to jail because he is too young and instead would go to “juvie”.  I have no idea where he learned about this, but I just let them have the conversation.  Fast forward a couple of days and Mason asked me how old until you go to jail.  I told him that it depended on the crime, but essentially up to 18 and he looked relieved…UNTIL I pointed out that juvie is the same as jail, but just for younger kids and that it can be just as rough and tough as jail.  The look on his face of disappointment was as if I had just taken away his video games.  It was as if he was planning some type of crime while he was young so he could avoid jail.  I quickly explained the best way to avoid juvie or jail is to not do anything wrong.  Hoping it set in.

Searching For The Off Button

Based on Mason’s current level of energy you would have no idea he has played three hockey games and a basketball this weekend. Not sure where this is coming from, but it’s a good thing there is no school tomorrow. If only I could find an off button.
