Things Mason Says – Racist Edition

In another long line of great comments from Mason, comes this unintentional racism.  On our drive home from San Antonio Mason is discussing an upcoming visit from our friends, the Doyles.  Hard to tell by the last name, but they are half Chinese via Lisa’s ancestry.  So while Mason is trying to explain their heritage to us he says “So, they are 50% Chinese, and 50%…normal.”   🙂

  1. When Mason and I were talking the next day he told me he was going to see his friends. Having met them before I asked Mason if they were Korean. He said “no, they are half Chinese and half American”. I told him Llubav (my son’s wife and mother to two of our of other granchildren) was one quarter Chinese and 3 quarters Peruvian. I told him that made Mikus and River part Chinese. Mason said “…well since we are cousins that makes me Chinese!” I told him that they were not blood cousins and Mason was not Chinese. Mason insisted on being Chinese, so I told him he could be Chinese by association. I told him his mom was half Irish which made him one quarter Irish, he was not impressed–he insisted that he was Chinese. So there you go, Mason is not the least bit predjudiced…at least not against the Chinese.
