CPS Not Called…Yet

Last night was a bit of a rough night for Melanie.  Cutler woke several times throughout the night crying out and this is rather unusual for him as he has always been a sound sleeper.  Then when he finally woke for the morning, Melanie “noticed” the swollen right eye.  She swears that she didn’t have anything to do with it, so we will just go with the story that it must be the way he slept on it.  But fear not, the swelling is gone.

Mommy says she didn't poke my eye

Despite the lack of sleep he has continued on to a mostly good day.  He continues to eat a ton and is still keeping it all in.  The doctor’s visit went well.  As part of the chemo effort Cutler has been receiving a medicine called lasix to help clean out his system of excess fluids and help push out the dead cells that the chemo is eliminating.  The doctor has decided that since his intake and output is remaining equal that it was time to stop using the lasix.  So one less medicine to be taken.

On the down side, since I have been in the room with Cutler I have noticed a considerable more amount of coughing and it sounds like he is getting a bit congested in the nose again.  The nurse just checked his vitals and listened to his lungs and everything looks and sounds normal, so lets hope it is nothing more than a little congestion in the nose and an itchy throat.  No infections please!
One other thing that I noticed after his last batch of medicine is that his face was turning very red, almost like a rash.  The nurse believes it might be a reaction to some of the medicine he just received, so she gave him some Benadryl and so far it looks like it is working AND it has helped him go to sleep as his sleep for me this afternoon has been a bit fitful, but he is now sleeping soundly.

  1. Please know that we are sending lots of love, prayers, and best wishes your way. Wish we lived closer so we could help. Tell Mason congratulations on his soccer goals! We’re so sorry that you have to go through this. Cancer really stinks and rears its ugly head just when you least expect it. Take care and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

  3. Good Monday Morning from Houston,

Cutler sure is a little trooper! Wish I could be there to do for all of you.

My prayer today is that Cutler will feel the loving arms of God wrapped him.

Father God, thank you for being so good and loving us so much. Give Melanie and Aaron the courage to keep holding on to their dreams as they trust in you. Thank You for delivering Melanie and Aaron from every fear, every concern, every obstacle, every form of bondage. I declare today that no weapon formed against Cutler shall prosper because You are his deliver.

Please rest assured that your needs will be rememberd in prayer.

  5. I just wanted to let you know that early yesterday in my church, Cutler’s name and request for prayers was announced in front of everyone in attendance. However, and I hope Cutler won’t be offended, they did mispronounce his last name in a way that isn’t unusual for the folks in Missouri. They pronounced it with the “e” silent. In other words, they said Cutler Frick. All the same, I am sure God knows their prayers are for Cutler Fricke. They did spell his name correctly in the bulletin. Our pastor apologized to me after mass, so hopefully it was pronounced correctly in the later masses.
Keep the faith and I continue to thank you for your updates!
    Love, Aunt Linda & John

    • It’s the never ending battle of the FrickE name. We have learned to answer to just about anything.

God is well aware and has an autoforward rule set up for Frick to be forwarded to Fricke.

      Thank you for the prayers!

  8. I agree with your friend who wrote earlier today, Cancer really stinks, it just down right sucks! It is just so much worse when it attacks a little one. But as you know we are a cancer surviving family ourselves, we are about to be a year out from Brent’s diagnosis and surgery, so prayers are answered! Please keep the faith. I am praying for you daily as are many others!!

  9. Please know that Cutler and family are in my thoughts and prayers. It sounds like he’s a real fighter and I know he’s got tons of love directed at him from family and friends. I’ve learned that God has a weird sense of humor, so keep the faith and a stiff upper lip!
